A little bit of mother, a little bit of father…

As soon as babies are born, people start commenting on whether they look like the mother or the father (or maybe an uncle or a great-grandfather).
MrB and I both have brown hair and blue eyes and no features that really stand out, but from the beginning everyone has said that Oskar looks like MrB and that Oliver looks like me. They’re probably right, Oskar does seem to have inherited his father’s nose and ears, and he certainly has inherited his ambidextrousness and talent for drawing.
Oliver has definitely inherited my facial features, and a strong dislike of being told what to do, but he’s also got his father’s hand-eye coordination gene and general interest in ball sports (which is non-existent in my body).
Last week I took both boys to the dentist and our guess that they’ve inherited their father’s solid big teeth was confirmed – it’s time to start saving up for braces. The good thing is that crooked teeth are fixable and all I hope for is that they haven’t inherited my cavity prone teeth :| Mine don’t look too bad from the outside considering I’ve survived years of Soviet dentistry, but I do have a filling in every single molar whereas MrB hardly has any.
I also hope that neither of the boys inherits my shortsighted eyes. Glasses have been the pain of my existence since I was 8 years old and even though children with glasses probably (hopefully) don’t get teased as much as they did in the 80s, I still hope my kids don’t have to deal with bad eyesight…
So a little bit of this and a little bit of that, one this is for sure – they both are totally their parents’ children and so far most of their features or character beauties/flaws can be attributed to one parent or the other.
What about your kids – can you purely see their two parents in them, or also great-grandparents or cousins or aunts and uncles?

From your pictures, there is no doubt the boys belong to you and MrB :)
Everyone tells me my oldest looks like her father and my youngest looks like me and/or my brother :). It’s fun to see how genes work! Now if only we could trace the red hair gene down on both sides and solve that mystery.
The red hair gene is definitely from their father’s side – just guessing based on his complexion :)
