The Big Bang Theory and Other Random Parenting Bits

The Big Bang Theory and Other Random Parenting Bits

Do you teach your kids the evolution or the creation? Does it have to be one or the other? I sort of believe in both so that’s what I’m telling my kids and seems like at least one of them has figured it out.

We have now banned all TV, videos and electronic games during the week. Previously we had a rule that Oskar couldn’t watch any TV or play computer games during the week, but Oliver was allowed to watch a bit of TV when Oskar was at school.

Lately we’ve found though that on the days that Oliver does watch TV, he’s so much more crankier and annoying than normally, so now we have a new rule. [...]

On books, religion and biting furniture

Alice made me think about books this morning and I ordered the kids a few books from Amazon, “The Kids Book of World Religions” for Oskar and “Hands are not for hitting” and “Teeth are not for biting” for Oliver. I am hoping that Oskar’s book will be for my benefit as well. We have [...]

I am no longer a “child” of God

I am no longer a “child” of God

We helped out with the kids at our church on Sunday.  James had a small group of 3 year olds, but I was as usual in the baby room as Oliver will not let me leave his sight.  Entertaining ten 1-2 year olds for 2 hours is tough for 3 adults.  Especially when some of [...]

Moments of grace

Oskar has 3 favorite bedtime songs at the moment. Mõmm-mõmm about a bear, lun(m)i about two ducks and the Noddy theme-song. Every evening once the books are read, he’ll tell me which song he wants to hear. I usually end up singing all three several times while he stares at the ceiling and fiddles with [...]

God is in the house

Church was truly refreshing today. The sermon was given by a lawyer. Yeap, it does happen in the kind of churches that we tend to go to. This particular lawyer works even longer hours than James, until midnight on many nights… and still manages to somehow be a father and a Christian who does not [...]

Oskar at Sunday school

Oskar at Sunday school

Today we had the first uninterrupted church service in 17 months. I took Oskar to the 0-2 children’s group and as soon as he saw all the toys he was off. I told the teachers that I would stay for a little bit as I haven’t left him with people he hasn’t seen before but [...]
