Pre-Christmas – Rush, rush, rush

Pre-Christmas – Rush, rush, rush

The next two weeks are going to go by in fast-forward mode – my calendar is full of notes, appointments and to do lists :| I no longer have Wednesdays off work to run errands, spend time with the kids or cook dinners. In addition, I’ve decided to join the “12 days of CrossFit” challenge at my CrossFit gym and that means that I have to fit in a class every freaking day from this Monday until the 14th of December.

There are also various work/school/nursery related Christmas functions AND a costume hunt for my little “Joseph” for tomorrow’s nativity play (eek!! so soon!!!) AND Christmas presents going overseas that need to be wrapped and posted asap. [...]

Summer is back…

Summer is back…

… until Sunday, they say :| I was going to write a nice mushy marshmallow post on how everything is cool and groovy, but then Oskar came back from his camp and was totally sunburned.  I am such a sunblock nazi and it’s just terrifying for me to think how he’s fried today.  I had [...]

Nerves

As Oskar is at this very first holiday (sports) camp I find myself with butterflies in the stomach, full of nervousness and anxiety. Maybe it’s too much physical activity for a little 5-year old? Maybe I did’t pack enough for him to eat? Maybe he won’t make any friends? I’ll feel so much better when [...]

A holiday Monday

A holiday Monday

Saw some more elephants today, had fish and chips at a pub at London Bridge  (Oskar thought it was “lovely” in there) and spent the afternoon inside away from the cold just playing with Kiki and whoever else was up for a bit of wrestling. Tomorrow is Oskar’s first day at his school holiday sports [...]

On Wednesdays and both boys

Went to bed at 9 last night. My ‘days off’ wear me out. It doesn’t help that I cram so much into my Wednesdays. Yesterday it was taking Oskar to school, a 9km run, coffee with friends and a sleeping Oliver, yoga class, food shopping, picking up Oskar from school, buying and picking up some [...]

At the Polka

At the Polka

Every Wednesday afternoon after school, Oskar goes to a drama class at the Polka Theatre. We usually get there at least 20 minutes early, but both boys love to play at the theatre, inside as well as outside. As far as what Oskar does at the class – I have no idea :)  He says [...]

Weekend update – keyword: Lego

Weekend update – keyword: Lego

So far we have ploughed through Oskar’s massive mountain of Lego pieces and put together the following items: one red racing car, one and a half StarWars clone walkers, one Powerminers granite grinder, one police van, one yellow racing car, half of a police helicopter, one Atlantis submarine, one police motorcycle, one police car. It [...]

Lots of Lego “fun”

Lots of Lego “fun”

We didn’t go to Estonia School today. Mainly because I was feeling lazy. But then I decided Oskar’s toys were long overdue for a proper sorting so we’ve spent a good 5 hours sorting Lego from Meccano from Bionics from Duplo from Playmobil from Superstrucs from Kinex. You can guess how much fun that’s been. [...]

An artist

Last week sometime Oskar decided that being an inventor alone wasn’t enough and acquired a new title. According to him, he’s now an inventor AND an artist. As soon as he wakes up (before 7am), he puts on his school uniform, grabs his little stool from the dining room and goes outside (!?!) to draw [...]

Transformer instructions

Transformer instructions

When Oskar was little, he liked puzzles.  Then he moved on to Playmobil and then Meccano and then Lego and then transformers.  He got very good at following instructions to put something together. For the past month or so, Oskar’s main ‘hobby’ has been drawing instructions himself.  His teachers joke that the first thing he [...]

Dangerous stuff

Oskar didn’t touch any of this lunch the other day.  When I asked for an explanation, he said “Tom’s (name changed) mom is a doctor and Tom said that she said that if you eat too much then you will die.” Well, sort of true, isn’t it, but I tried to explain to Oskar that [...]

Just another day in the life of a parent

Oh why oh why is this winter not over yet?  There’s only so much snot and vomiting and diarrhea one can tolerate. As of this morning Oskar cannot breathe and Oliver is recovering from his second bout of major, MAJOR diarrhea+vomiting. Delicious.  Especially when he throws up in our bed three times in one night.  [...]

Wibbeley, wobbeley astronaut

Another lovely weekend gone by. The boys are starting to properly play with each other, which means they run around like lunatics chasing each other and giggling and wrestling and we constantly have to watch them so that no one gets hurt. In the evenings it’s hard to get them down to sleep as they’re [...]
