This year we spent our wedding anniversary weekend in New Park Manor hotel & spa. Last two anniversaries we’ve spent in Four Seasons in Hook, but this year we wanted to try something different, especially since we had a nice experience in Danesfield House in April for my birthday.

So how did New Park measure up against Four Seasons and Danesfield House? Out of 10 points I’d give Four Seasons 10 points, Danesfield House 9 and New Park Manor 7. Why just seven? Mainly because the wow factor was missing from almost every element other than the look and comfort of the room. [...]

During our Cornwall holiday we stayed in a cottage next to a big hotel – we wanted the extra space and the self catering option provided by the cottage, but we also wanted the swimming pool provided by the hotel.

The Headland Hotel in Newquay provided this combination and we loved our living space and the ability to spend a few hours every evening in the swimming pool/sauna/hot tub. [...]

During our Cornwall holiday last week we spent one day at the Eden Project where we walked through a rainforest and a few mediterranean countries, both of which were in artificial biomes. It was a fun day out and I’ll let the photos do the talking. [...]

Last week we spent 4 days in Cornwall, staying in a town called Newquay.

We did a few day trips to surrounding sights as well, but before I get to those, here are some photos of Newquay (it was very foggy on most days as you can see, we still appreciated the sights).

After 6 months of not eating any refined sugar, I am finding it impossible to resist the pastries here in Estonia. Oh well. A bit of holiday indulgence won’t completely kick me off the wagon… I am sure of it because once I’m back in London, nothing will tempt me so much – no baked [...]

A couple of weekends ago we went to Edinburgh to visit some friends. On our second day we spend the morning at a place called Our Dynamic Earth, it’s an interactive museum exploring our planet and its geology, geography, climate, evolution, etc. …

We took a train up to Edinburgh on Saturday morning to visit some friends. I made the mistake of not packing my sunglasses – the weather was actually very nice and we all enjoyed this little cross-country adventure. In addition to just wondering around the town, we also went to a couple of cool museums, photos of those are coming in the next few days …

I only had a few hours on 3 days to walk around Amsterdam, so my impressions of the city are probably fairly trivial. Here they are nevertheless…

I’ve just crashed in my hotel room after walking around sunny Amsterdam for 4 hours with a friend I hadn’t seen for 15 years. It was so nice I have no words right now. Maybe tomorrow :)

We’ve been back in London for 2 days and I already miss the smell of the pine forest…

We spent the last 4 days in the woods. Catching up with friends, walking, climbing, waterbiking, mini golfing, abseiling, tree climbing, swimming, sliding, sitting in the sauna… It was totally refreshing and exhausting at the same time :)

On Thursday morning we packed our bags and headed down to Brighton for a long weekend. Despite it being February, we had a lovely seaside mini-holiday: the kids loved sleeping in the same bed with us (we pushed a double and a single together to fit us all in, my mom had the other single); they loved going to bed late (as we were all in one room, we all went to bed at 9 or 9:30); they loved tossing rocks into the waves; they loved going to the swimming pool every day… [...]

We are back in London now after 6 days in Tallinn. It was a shame that we didn’t see any snow, but it meant that we were able to get around town with the pram and do a bit of sightseeing and shopping.

Will reflect on Christmas later on, but here are a few snapshots from our walks.

We didn’t buy each other presents for our wedding anniversary, we spent a day in a spa hotel instead. Last year we had done the same and loved it so much that we decided to make this an annual treat from now on – a totally perfect way to celebrate clocking up another year of being married :)

We went to the Four Season’s spa hotel in Hampshire. It’s less than an hour’s drive from home, but it’s surrounded by nothing but fields so it feels like a million miles away from London. [...]

The highlight of our Saturday was to go grocery shopping by car.

That is how exciting our life is.

If you’d lived without a car for the past 5.8 years though, you’d know how exciting it is just to stick all your stuff into the boot and drive off… instead of dragging an IKEA wheelie bag home with one hand and carrying 4 canvas bags in the other. [...]
