Run for fun #2: A long run goes by fast if you have company

Run for fun

The wounds from last Wednesday’s bloody 10km run are thankfully all superficial and healing nicely.

On Saturday I went running with MrB for a change. He needed to go to the city to collect his bike from his office and I tagged along, running with him to Elephant and Castle and then a little bit back before hopping on the tube.

We ran 11km together and just chatted, about politics and religion, etc. The usual stuff :) Time and kilometres just flew by and our pace was barely over 5min/km.

At Elephant & Castle he ran on but I turned around and ran to Stockwell. In the end I had clocked up 14km and amazingly my left quad wasn’t sore the day after, it usually is after runs longer than 12km but I’ve really been paying attention to stepping ‘properly’ with my right foot.

On Monday I went for a run again since I’m not working and my initial plan was to run every day this week while the kids are in school and nursery.

Well, Monday was rainy and muggy. I made 3 mistakes that didn’t make that run a very enjoyable one: 1. Wearing a super tight sports bra (I HATE industrial strength sports bras) 2. Wearing 3/4 leggings instead of short shorts 3. Wearing long sleeves.

As a result I was hot and grumpy after a few kms and it also didn’t help that my legs are not used to running every other day – I usually have 2-3 days in between my runs. I did a random 7km loop and called it quits.

Tuesday and today have been days off. Tomorrow morning I’m planning a long run, then Friday and Saturday off again and thenĀ  British 10k on Sunday. I’m running it in support of a great little charity called LaVida. If you could sponsor me, I would really appreciate it! ;)

So that’s been my week of running. How has yours been?
